Rainy Days Charleston Style

Rainy days don’t keep me inside if I have plans.  I won’t grab my rain boots if it’s an intermittent showers kind of day.  But I will pick footwear that won’t get ruined if gets wet.

Rainy Days

Most of us don’t have the luxury of cuddling on the couch with a cozy blanket, good book and delicious cup of coffee when it rains.  Wow, that sounds good.  We have work, appointments and family obligations that take us outside.  Or maybe we just want to sing in the rain…

However, I am well equipped for those rainy days.  I’ve collected several raincoats through the years.  This one is at least 16 years old and I still love it.  I also have a lighter weight, knee-length one for hot summer days in Charleston.  Wearing a knee-length coat for dresses, skirts and pants is a great way to add polish and sophistication to your look.  The moral of the story, buy a classic style with staying power and it may outlast you.

I have a few shorter jackets, which I generally save for casual wear, unless it’s pouring.  That’s when I cover myself from head to toe and out come the boots!

If you prefer one coat to several, a trench coat with a removable lining is a great choice. You’re covered for rain or cold in a truly timeless style! Of course, I would not be without my umbrella.

Happy Monday, rain or shine!
