The beautiful, quaint town of Haines was our first port of call. We decided to explore it on our own, rather than sign-up for one of the tours. That meant a lot of walking and comfortable clothes were key. Pictured above is an historic neighborhood – can you imagine looking at this everyday?
I am sitting in the middle of town, literally surrounded by beauty.
We stopped for lunch at a small diner next to the marina. Afterwards, we meandered around the docks. There is something about the gentle clanging of halyards against a mast that is soothing to me. Some of my best night’s sleeps have been aboard a sailboat.
Behind me is our cruise ship and we’re headed back for some R&R. I think I went into every small shop in town as well as several museums along the path we traveled.
Back on board, we acquired a new friend while enjoying the view from our balcony. Sometimes we’re lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
Wishing you a marvelous day!
