Date nights are fun because it generally involves food. It’s also a reason to wear some of my favorite date night outfits. Our destination was Spero Eatery, but first a stop at Charleston’s Visitor’s Center. When you take stock of your surroundings, it’s amazing the beauty that’s been there all along.
Pink has become one of my “new” basic colors, so naturally I had to have this J Crew pink camisole. I paired it with Zara pajama like trousers, Madewell denim jacket, Nina kitten mules, Baublebar earrings, three Pandora bracelets and the cutest velvet drawstring bag ever. My youngest son and I were recently shopping at a local antique store and I spotted it. I picked it up and started carri g it around the store with me. When we were checking out he said, “I got this Mom.” I argued, but he won. I will forever love and keep this bag.
A view of the details…
I love this old school drinking fountain, although it was only trickling water. It’s a good thing I wasn’t dying of thirst.
In the warmer months ahead I’ll wear the camisole alone with jeans, trousers, skirts or shorts. Every closet needs several colored camisole.
Heading to Spero … an eatery. When you drive up don’t leave, first impressions can be deceiving.
Instead of a main course we decided on a variety of small apps – more flavors to experience. We started with an order of Cornbread with burnt honey miso butter. Next, we each ordered a Scotch Egg filled with szechuan peppercorn sausage, runny egg and herb salad – OMG delish.
Following the Scotch Egg was this beauty called The Brave Lil’ sweet potato with roast sweets, Korean chili powder and ancho aioli. My husband, not a sweet potato fan, loved this dish too. Sorry, I forgot the name of our next dish, but it was good.
Generally we pass on dessert, but this time we could not resist. Since we couldn’t decide on which one we ordered three: Olive oil ice cream, chocolate thingy and pictured below, home made chocolate chip cookies.
The atmosphere might be casual, yet they’re never casual about their food.
All in, it was a great night, with good company and delicious food.
