We were flying from Anchorage to Kenai for the day and the weather was cold, light rain. So, what to wear with my Mango trench coat and umbrella? I decided on my Uniqlo white linen blouse, Madewell slim boyfriend jeans, Zara sweater, Anthropologie white booties and J Crew earrings. Layering is a great way to adjust to weather changes. It’s easy to lose a sweater and/or coat if the sun comes out. I always bring a backpack to carry my extras.
Behind me is the Kenai River, which I can hear whispering in the background. When we had a break from meetings (I was a guest) my husband wanted to show me this beautiful spot. It was tucked away so we were the only humans around. People come from all over to fish the Kenai. A few folks were surprised to learn I could come and go without casting a line.
I really like this Mango trench coat. It was the perfect weight for the mid-fifty temps.
This cool looking fence was along the road we were traveling. It was bigger than me to not peek at what was on the other side. As you can see, I was not terribly successful, so I had to squint between the slats. The other side held a grove of trees with a house I could barely see tucked in between them.
It was time to head back, but I was thankful for the opportunity to see this beautiful slice of nature. Saturday we’re flying to the village of Aniak, which will be my first trip to rural Alaska. I’m looking forward to it.
The four-hour time change takes some getting used to, as do all the extra hours of sunshine. However, it’s so worth it.
Thanks for stopping by!
