Floral and ruffles are about as feminine as you can get. I’ve been a big fan of both for awhile and my love for them is still going strong. I think the main reason is that I wore menswear for so long, which I still love. The work place didn’t accept feminine styles at the time. It was difficult enough being a woman in the workplace, let alone looking feminine.
This outfit was actually not planned. Well, the skirt was. I was having a stomach bloat attack and the original top just wasn’t working. Since we were in a hurry I didn’t have time for an entire wardrobe change. So I grabbed one of my favorite blouses, this Club Monaco ruffle top (last years), changed my earrings and jetted out the door. That’s what I love about ruffle blouses, they always seem to work and elevate any outfit. I ended up liking the floral and ruffles together more than the outfit I originally planned.
Sidetrack: This is my “deer in the highlights” look when hubby says something that makes no sense. Does that ever happen to you? Ha-ha.
I’m wearing my Madewell floral skirt, Club Monaco ruffle top, Mango black suede slides, BaubleBar earrings, Chloe bag and Illesteva Isabella sunnies. There are probably still some corporate settings that might frown on this look, but it could easily be changed to black pumps and a blazer.
Looking back is only good when there’s something to be gleaned from the memory; otherwise I find it a waste of time. As women it’s still an uphill battle in the workplace, but thank goodness it’s no longer that enormous mountain climb. So my message, “If you want to wear floral and ruffles, do it whenever you want!”
To better days ahead!
Happy hump day!
